Why Organic?

Any food deemed “organic” today simply refers to the fact that the farmer producing it didn’t use today’s conventional means of using chemicals and pesticides when fertilizing or conducting weed control.

An organic farmer is one who is concerned with the Earth and working to preserve soil, water, etc as he/she goes about their work.

When we buy organic food, we are supporting this way of thinking, rather than supporting conventional farming methods that work to destroy the Earth, as well as our health through dangerous chemicals and genetically modified “food stuff”.

Why Organic costs more?

Organic food is better for you and your family. It contains more vitamins, minerals, enzymes and taste than intensively farmed produce. It is also free from insecticides, pesticides, growth hormones, antibiotics, fertilisers and a whole host of other toxic artificial additives, flavourings, colourings and preservatives. So if it contains less added chemicals, why does it cost more?

  1. Low Yield : Lower Yield due to growing without use of any  insecticides, pesticides, growth hormones, Chemical fertilisers etc.,
  2. Organic Certification Cost : Every year a team of experts from Organic certifying body inspects all the activities of the Farm and Processing Unit, only if they find organic activity satisfied only then certificates are renewed  for that year,
  3. Certificate of Analysis / Laboratory tests charges for each and every batch of Organic produce,
  4. Post-harvest handling of relatively small quantities of organic foods results in higher costs because of the mandatory segregation of organic and conventional produce, especially for processing and transportation.

When can Raisins be offered to Kids?

As soon as a child is ready to eat finger foods, which normally happens when a child is between 8 and 9 months old, we may start giving them raisins. Initially cut up the dried fruit and offer small pieces of raisins to the child. Over a period of time break clumps of raisins and offer it to the child in bowl for him/ her to eat one at a time.

Why sometimes Raisins are dark in colour & irregular in shape ?

Since the raisins are not treated with chemical sulphites to preserve the natural golden colour, they may darken slightly but are still perfectly healthy and safe to consume.

Raisins may vary in shape, size and colour (The way nature intended!). Raisins are highly nutritious and contain powerful antioxidants and nutrients which may contribute to the overall quality of healthy, balanced diet.

How to store ?

Before opening, store Nature’s Power Organics Raisins in a cool, dry place. After opening, close the zip lock pouch tightly and, for best results, store in the Freezer of refrigerator to extend the shelf life of the product. Should they dry out, you can revitalize them with a quick steaming over boiling water (a few minutes).

Generally Raisins have a long shelf life; they keep well when stored in airtight containers and placed away from moisture, humidity, sun light and high temperature. They can also be stored inside the refrigerator.

Prolonged cold storage may results in precipitation of their sugar contents. However, it can be reversed by just soaking them in boiled water for few minutes in order to dissolve sugar crystals.
